From broken checkout to a conversion-optimized platform
Comunica con me is a platform dedicated to the specific needs of neurodivergent individuals. It offers courses, continuing education programs (ECM), and services from professionals such as psychologists and speech therapists. A valuable service with a real problem: the website wasn’t converting as it should.
When a user added a service to their cart, the page would refresh showing a barely noticeable message. No redirect, no guidance toward checkout. Users stayed on the same page, confused, and often abandoned the purchase. On top of that, performance was slow due to a database bloated with over 5,000 revisions, outdated plugins, and unoptimized images. The footer was missing legally required information. The only available payment method was PayPal.
My approach
I structured the project in three distinct phases, starting with the technical foundations before optimizing the user experience.
Phase 1: Cleanup and security
I removed duplicate files from the FTP, deactivated unused plugins, and deleted obsolete backups. This reduced hosting space usage by 17%. I manually cleaned the database of accumulated revisions and leftover data from inactive plugins. I updated all plugins with active licenses, checking each one for compatibility.
Phase 2: Checkout flow optimization
I changed the cart logic: now when a user adds a product or service, they’re redirected straight to the cart page. No more hidden messages, no more confusion. Then I redesigned the checkout page to make it cleaner and more intuitive to complete, and reorganized the order confirmation page with a clear visual hierarchy.


Phase 3: Payment integration
I implemented Stripe with all modern payment methods: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Klarna, Revolut Pay, and Link. I kept PayPal and added the option to pay in 3 installments.
The results
These changes transformed a slow website with a confusing checkout into a conversion-optimized platform. The purchase flow is now smooth and intuitive. Users now have access to 8 different payment methods instead of one. The website is faster and more secure.
From technical fix to ongoing collaboration
What started as a maintenance project turned into a strategic partnership. After the initial work, they asked me to continue developing the platform and integrate new features and user-focused functionality.
